My first (and current) bike is a used thumper-engined 650 standard. I'm pretty happy with it, but I vaguely wish I had started off with something smaller, and maybe something with tubed tires, carbs, and chain drive.

Nothing wrong with tubeless, FI, or belt drive, but I suspect I've been spoiled by them, and am picking up bad habits when it comes to regular maintenance.

I wish I'd decided to get a bike sooner
I wish I could find an exhaust for a FZ750
And I wish I had worn warmer clothes when riding pillion through -5 degrees centegrade weather

Oh and I wish I'd gone down the dragstrip at Bulldog Bash..... maybe next year

250cc too small for M2 Exit test except from Ministry

Not sure what your Ontario license status is, but for some bizarre reason, a 250cc too small to use to take the M2 Exit test except from the Ministry. From Humber (or the other rider-training providers) your bike must be > 250cc. Which really sucks, especially since Humber has a fleet of 250cc Yamahas they use for teaching.

The pass rate from Humber College is 99%, whereas from Ministry is more like 25%. Also, there are very few GTA locations where one can take the test from the Ministry. In the GTA (Toronto), I was told one must go to Oshawa or Hamilton.

So if you ride a 250, you will either have to take the test on a loaner (not ideal), or take it at an inconvenient location from someone likely to fail you.

Might not stop me from buying a 250 Ninja, but keep in mind in 2 years, it may be a problem for you. Suzuki makes a sweet 500cc (GS500) that may be worth a look.
