I have a honda shadow deluxe vlx 1996 like mentioned in first post. I will try the test with the old battery that is fully charged (I fully charged it because the battery was dead 4 hours after I started it last night to try and go home) and then the bike started right up after I charged the battery at home and then went to work to pick it up. I dont know when I will get a new battery because im kinda tired of working on this thing every other week replacing parts and getting it back up and running.

But I will, however, fully charge the battery and check the charging system. thanks for the quote sev :D.

ok quick ?

I let my bike sit for 6 days. I went to do the winterzing of it today thinking I was going to have to charge the battery. To my surprise the bike started right up. So I finished running the gas out of the chambers etc etc and then went to pull the spark plug wires off. One of them came off hard and at one point in the line was very "soft". I am assuming its got a bad connection in it at that point and it will need to be replace. My ? is will this cause a good battery to be drained way down due to having more resistance due to the short thus needing more power to crank the bike over thus killing the battery in a couple of days?

WHY YES!!!

I just learned right on this forum that a bad plug wire will drain the system. I love this place! Here:
