i had this happen withthe high revs and all...when i jsut got it...i adjusted the carb to let more air in(i think thats what that little screw does) but on my 550 yamaha...its right between the 2 and 3 carb facing the back of the the bike...or maybe its just and idle adjustment...anyways that brought it back down from 4000 to a little under 1000...

A cold motor should have trouble starting with the choke off.

I'm not sure what your "bike-guy" means. Does he mean there's a chance he installed the pilot jets where the main jets go, and vice-versa?

Problem is fixed!!

So, fellas, here's what happened with this XJ650 & the high revs & shutting off:
Apparently when I put the carb rack back on, I got the throttle linkage bungled up with one of the boot clamps. You know whtose nice little thumb tabs they make on em, that let you maneuver the clamps around th eboot?
Well, we repositioned the clamp, & VRRROOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!

a free bike, that sounds puurfect!!!

Thanks to all!!!
Rich
