Here is another one of my XS650s, does it qualify as a classic ?? It's a 1977D model.

Here ia a Honda PA50 that I bought new for my daughter in 1979... it's got 800 miles on the clock and is in mint condition. Small, but still old enough to be a classic...but is it considered a classic ??

For me, a classic bike is one that has stood the test of time in terms of popularity, performance and legacy. Bikes from manufacturers with a long history and racing pedigree tend to be the ones that endure as classics.
Some that come to mind for me would be bikes like the Vincent Black Shadow - what a gorgeous machine! Also older British twins like Triumphs and Nortons from the 60s. Among Japanese bikes, the Honda CB750 Four has always impressed me as the original universal Japanese sports bike.
It can definitely be challenging to find parts for bikes that old. Networking with other owners and enthusiasts is so helpful - places like swap meets and specialty salvage yards are great resources. It's awesome that you've kept your old BMW and Sportster on the road all these years!

A classic bike is defined by its timeless design, historical impact, and iconic status. Models like the Honda CB, Kawasaki KZ, and pre-AMF Harleys are classic due to their significant contributions to motorcycle culture. Finding parts for these bikes can be challenging but specialized suppliers and enthusiast clubs are great resources. The Goldwing 1500SE '98, while not yet a classic, is admired for its advanced and might become one in the future.
