Well, returned home after visiting the folks for Christmas, laden with TOOLS! Got spanners, socket set, torque wrench, feeler gauge, new jacket and boots at the Manchester Bike Show!

Still no damn battery charger, but it's in the post.

Also got a GPS bluetooth and TomTom on my phone! God knows if it'll work, but it could make those prospective weekend jaunts a little easier!

I'm gonna push start her, and run her around the block. Since I put in the new choke she needs it half on all the time?! Have I fitted it incorrectly?

Yeeehaaaa! It works! It all works!! Recharged battery got it started with a bit of coaxing, warmed her up, came back off a ride and very gingerley backed off the choke with a few revups.
Got her back to zero choke and at last a nice quiet tickover! She dies if I ram the choke up too rapidly but I can live with that, I suppose the bits needed to 'bed in' or something? I dunno!
GPS thingy works as well! The standard earphone with my phone (Vario II) is a little uncomfortable and I think I'd get a sore ear after a while but I'm still impressed with the thing! I might try and solder some kind of flat pad type of speaker onto it.
Anyway, thankyou all for your words of wisdom!

Oh yeah, and the lights just sorted themselves out! Must have been the low battery.
