At first I thought it was kph. One of the comments the rider/filmer responds something like " how wrong you are" so I checked again.
The part that makes me think mph is about the one minute mark. It a close sweeper right, and he's doing about 60. On that kind of road I'd would be doing at LEAST 60 kph....it's gotta be miles per hour.
The other thing is I've gotten a Multistrada 1000DS up to about 170 kph. It produces about 88 bhp, and 170 kph came pretty damn quick. It took a similar time for this guy to hit 170.....miles per hour. Makes sense. If you let it.

but
175-180 mph is the best part of 300kmhs, the only time Ive seen speeds like that are down the main straights at the MotoGP or on Ghost rider video's.

That is *not* MPH. There's no way.
The overtaken rider would have to be doing in excess of 85-90 mph, and no one is going to sit straight up like that cruising at 90 mph.
Also, when the speedo says about 170, it looks a lot more like 105 mph than 170 mph. I've seen other videos of 160+ mph and it appeared ty be significantly faster than this.

Shane-o. This is 'Mad Sunday' on the Isle of Man TT circuit where riders try to emulate their road racing heroes. You have to adjust your thinking a little. Here's a BBC comment.shane-o wrote:

Morecambe rider John McGuinness holds the current lap record at an average speed of over 129mph. Riders, who race against the clock, can exceed 200mph on some stretches.
"It's the longest circuit in the world by far. It's part of history, almost where motorcycling started. The speeds are unbelievable.
"On Bray Hill, you go from 0-180mph down a straight. On a normal road elsewhere, you would immediately go to jail or kill yourself.
"It looks ridiculously fast and mental and insane, 200mph on a road looks like absolute madness. But I leave a little bit, my safety buffer."
Come on Doc. Don't be a grumpus. A little friendly argument can sometimes pass the time pleasantly if you are not waiting to take delivery of a new chop-slavering, F-O cruiser.dr_bar wrote:Honestly...
Who really gives a dodo if it's a BS speed????
