hey thanks guys.. lots of good ideas in there... Chili Peppers always has some pretty good stuff, and that is the sort of band i am looking for...

i've listen to some stuff like Diana Krall and Harry Connick Jr. in the past and it hasnt quite clicked, but we'll check 'em out again... and the old classics like Kuhnfyoozed mentioned are always a source to check out...

really i am looking for stuff that has a little more *kick* than "real" jazz does, and Krall may be a little too mellow... however, her husband, Elvis Costello has some pretty good stuff too. If I listen to too much real jazz I start to get pulled into some decent Blues tunes instead!

Well, shuffling a little of the DirtBike budget to the Music budget, since it's still early in the season, i bought and borrowed about 60 more new and used CDs and also downloaded some new stuff to check out various musicians. I was close to getting several other albums like Fiest, but downloaded some tunes to check them out.

Off the top of my head some of the stuff includes:

Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch (circa 1964)

Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs (2001)

Beatles - Love (remix for Cirque de Soliel)
plus another a Cirque de Soleil soundtrack of some generic name
Moulin Rouge soundtrack

Cat Power - Jukebox (just released CD of mostly cover tunes); and Cat Power - Moon Pix

Led Zepplin tribute - Ecomium

Eric Clapton - Unplugged

Radiohead - In Rainbows (bargain: only $11 new), Radiohead's - OK Computer (which I had given away at some time)

PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
and PJ Harvey - Is This Desire

Tea Party - Splendor Solis
and Tea Party's - Edges of Twilight (both with a little Indian influenced music)

almost bought a Yo-Yo Mah album, but it was $20, which in today's budget CD market was just too much money, but I'm sure almost anything Yo-Yo Mah is involved with is pretty good

Beck - Mutations

Echo & The Bunnymen - Flowers (i think is the album)

Fiona Apple - Tidal (her first album, bloody good)

The Pat Metheny Group have been around for years and are constantly growing, so there are several themes that have run through their work since the 70's. Definitiely worth a listen.
