I sat down and did some figuring: 4, 400+ mile days. About 2 1/2 tanks of gas per day.
Does it amaze you when you stop to do the math just how big the country is?
Canada is like too......a very long way from the west coast to the east....

I should go figure out how far it is to Arkansas......but then.....on the other hand....if I do that I may scare myself away from taking that kind of trip. Sometimes seeing the actual mileage feels daunting.

Yup. And what I find really amazing is how relatively TINY the countries in Europe are to have sooo much "going on" in them. A day to ride from one end of the country to the other. What a concept!

Just did a "road mile" calculation - GPS software is quite handy. It looks like Denver is at the halfway point between Vancouver and Little Rock. That's a LOT of miles to cover... Would your friend meet you?

My friend lives here. If I went we would be travelling together for the whole trip. I just have to wait until the vacation sign up goes up at work next month to see if I can get the dates I want. I have enough seniority that it should be doable.
Actually Denver being halfway is good. The going home trip would be shorter. I have never been to any of the southern states or Colorado so it would be exciting if I can get to go.

You ladies may want to try US-50 instead of I-70  .

It has soul.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Sorry to intrude on the ladies forum, but I had to butt in here!
If you ladies do make it out I'll be within about 100 miles, so I'll do any maintenance you need done on your bikes while you're out there!
It'd be a great time to meet you in person, plus I'll get to work on women's bikes! Nothing better!

Much obliged. I've posted the event on a couple national forums that I belong to, will add your offer to a not yet created list. (Do I see the makings of a web page?) Already expecting to do a full 12K service before departure, as well as new tires. The motorcycling community is so marvellous!!

:D How lucky can I get...that is next to my home, this is backyard territory for me...whoo hoo...have calander marked.
FYI: For those short on time, there are plenty of places you can rent a bike out here if you are going to fly in and for those who are HD enthusiast a fly and ride might be something to thing about.
I follow a new highway I haven't traveled before.

But but how much traffic? I'm willing to consider an alternate, depending on what other details you can offer.

I-70...I have made that route a few times it is very boring, however since alot of it is flat lands you will have the pleasure of mother natures wind gusting at you, and you never know which direction it will be coming from. So you will be busy sometime just keeping your steed steady...Just remember when you see the windmills be prepared. You may want to plan on some special stops (even gas stops) going through there, then you have that mental note of breaking it up. Keep in mind you may use more fuel when going against the headwinds about 5 years ago my sporty only got as far as 90 miles fighting the wind...shocked me to run out of gas she usually got double that. Another road would be US-96 (just south of 70) it has small towns you go through, very limited on traffic and not to sore on the eyes....Lots of farms, runs along the RR-track so you can wave to the engineers...HaHa. US-50 is about the same as 96 small towns its also greener and less traffic.
