I'm not seeing a downside here...

As long as you ran a hose outside the house, I'll bet the bike would make a darn good heater.

Here's one of my all time fave pics on the subject of indoor motorcycle storage:

[quote="Gummiente"]You fill the tank to the top with fresh gas, pour in a bottle of the stabiliser, turn off the petcock and drain the carbs. This stabiliser stuff ensures that the gas doesn't go bad or turn to varnish over the winter months and the full tank prevents rust from forming on the inside surfaces. In the spring you just fire it up and away you go (although just to be safe I usually drain the tank anyway and fill it with fresh fuel - I then put the old gas into the car).

... Couldn't you just add the fresh gas, pop in the stabilizer, and then, say, run about 5 miles on it, so that the fuel in the carbs/lines contains stabilizer as well?
(My grandmother bought a new set of lawnmowers, and they included this as a standard- There's even a slow-drip attachment which adds it to your fuel over the course of a year or something).

Absolutely. In fact, that's what the instructions say on the bottle. But I live in a climate that sees -30C and worse in the winter and I'd rather not take the chance of carbs gumming up due to water content and cheap gas. I've found that sometimes even with the stabiliser in the fuel that I've had to drain the float bowls to get the bike running properly. Just my experience, yours may vary.

Thanks Gummiene
got 'er all sorted out now. the tank was a little skody, but not so bad. idid the soapy water thing and dryed it w/hair dryer. checked out the petcock, and it looked allright, hit it with ether real quick.
bike runs good now, but i still didn;t find any major cause of the blockage, so this might happen again...
