Keep your wrist flat, so your knuckles are always higher than the wrist. That'll prevent your pothole roll on from being a crazy experience. Should be hard to roll on more than 1/4 throttle with a flat wrist. In all honesty, 1/4 is all you'll ever truly need on that bike

Here's an argument. If you were learning to fly, would they shove you into the pilot's seat of a 747 right off the bat? This is rhetorical, by the way.
There are people here who teach MSF. There are people here who are EMTs, there was even a cop or two if I reckon correctly. Most of these people have seen the horror that comes from overdeveloped senses of confidence paired with a high-powered bike first hand. If you want to give them crap for trying to keep you alive, then so be it; but I don't recommend it.
You also have to understand the amount of "lulz, I wants teh high-powered sportsbak" posts we get. People saying that getting a CBR900 is perfectly fine for a first bike! So don't take it personally when someone says getting a 750SS is probably a poor idea.

As long as your shifting, on your 82 cb750 1/4 throttle will get you to freeway speeds just as fast as you would do it in your car.
I have to disagree about calling this bike a SS. It has less overall power than a SV650 and while the early version was the muscle bike of the early 70's, I don't think you can really call the 82 the SS of it's day. Regardless, the way we've continually made bikes lighter and more powerful, it's rather tame by todays standards. Not to mention it's cheap to insure and not worth as much when you drop it

Rule #1 - don't part the motorcycle on a lawn...unless you need practice picking the motorcycle up from it's side...

Yes, I've heard the flying analogy as well. I'm not arguing any of that. However, seems like my 750F is shoved in the same boat with CBR900 and the bikes people come up with(like in your example), which is what's frustrating. As I said, it's an on/off discussion where you're not allowed to discuss anything other then the Ninja and GS500. And if you are not a hot headed 16 year old, after you've read it a million times, nobody says anything new and the arguments actually start to lose weight because of it. This is more along the lines of what I'm trying to say:

Also, this thread is not mainly about my F, it's about alternatives and suggestions to GS500 and Ninjas. I'm trying to get people's suggestions for the sake of future research where you will get answers broader them two mentioned bikes. You know what I mean? And the input of everybody of authority to suggest is welcome.

And I never parked it on the grass, it's the pic from for sale ad the bike was advertised with. I don't even have a lawn for a nice backdrop LOL. . And I'd know better then that...I was actually wondering how the hell did he get it to stay upright on there and if there was something under the stand.

There are quite a few threads out there already suggesting a wide range of bikes. some that come to mind

honda shadow- 600, 750

Just use the search function. However, with the market being what it is, smaller bikes just aren't selling well in America so they are becoming rarer all the time. For the most part if you're looking for something without cruiser stylings your left with the ninja 250/500 and gs500... or is it a 650 now?
Anyway- this is an internet forum- EVERYONE either has authority or thinks they do. And who's to say what's right or wrong?

Hahaha... yes eveybody is an expert. I did search. A lot. Different forums too.
What you're saying on smaller bikes makes sense, here not much newer small stuff is available(other then brand new). For example, there were 3 GS500 for sale in last 3-4 months. One was a 95 with 67k on itm dropped a few times and the guy was asking $1500. I don't know what it sold for but people started BIDDING on it. Crazy. He got way more then the bike is worth. There is one for sale now, 2007 for $5000. Too new to drop. For 250cc there is pretty much nothing.
I bolded that list, nice and visible.
