Yeah, I think both models have their fans. Totally understandable. I've yet to see one in person though. My sister has though. Got to turn it on and sit on it. It was the black one. She's a Harley rider and she was pleasantly impressed with the exhaust note the Duc put out. She said it felt pretty good - but different than what she's use to. She says "All you see if the gauge cluster, then, nothing. There's the road" lol
I sat on the 696 and it does not seem tiny like the 695. It feels more on par with the S2R1000. The seating position is basically your standard naked with a slight lean. Your sister would've really thought the Hypermotard has a strange view. You feel like you are sitting on top of the front tire like on a unicycle. It's very bizzare at first but you get used to it right away.
As far as the exhaust note goes, IMO the Duc sounds much better than a Harley......oops sorry Pandora, your box is open again.
No need to apologize...the duc's sing like any twin should.
Myself, I pray for an income that will support an s2r1000 to ride when my luxury liner just wont do it.
Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

They sound somewhat similar but they affect your soul in a completely different way.
The Duc twin makes you want to rev it up to feel that mile wide torque and hear that desmo music and the Harley Big twin makes you want to settle into that comfort pace and feel the motor and the wind and just chill.

Nah you should just watch how you are leaning on it.
