I sat on a Vulcan and I loved it!! It's just finding one in that price range is hard. Also a honda rebel seems perfect for my wife but, the rebel is small for a guy that is 6'1 180lbs. I looked at insurance and cruisers seem to be alot cheaper then a ninja 250.

We are going to take the safety course in June. Then look to get a bike soon after.

What about a v2s-250R?? I saw one of these for sale on craigslist. Any ideas on where to find good used bikes? other then craigslist or ebay

any other info would be great thanks for all the good input.

i think it's just that time of year. i'm just outside of raleigh and i check craigslist quite often just to see what's out there. it seems like for the last few weeks there hasn't been much except larger sport bikes and large cruisers. if you're not opposed to driving out this way i could be on the look out for you. if you want to wait until after your class just PM me and let me know.

They're good for around town and back roads. Not that great on the interstate. The bike's pretty much tapped out at 70 mph.

In the 250 class, I think the Ninja offers the best all around perfomance for about the same price as the competition.

I don't like the Nighthawk 250 since it still uses drum brakes, they should bring the bike into the new age.

I had the GZ250 from Suzuki and found it to be more comfortable than the Rebel. There's also the Hyosung and Kymco 250cc bikes that seem to be a bit better in the comfort and power department.

Why don't you just take a Vulcan 500 instead as a first cruiser? It was pretty friendly and can get itself on the highway really well unlike the 250cc cruisers. The Ninja 250 may be a sport bike but it seems to sit almost like a standard... a little more forward than the Nighthawk. To me at least.

i'm on a tight budget if i can find a vulcan for around 2500 bucks i'll take it but, finding one at that price seems hard.

i'm just looking at all 250cc, The ninja is out of the picture for me. I like the comfort of cruisers better. I sat on a ninja and didn't care for it.

You will know more about 250cc cruisers after the MSF. It is a great idea to start looking and sitting on bikes until then. After just a couple of days of manuevering on MSF bikes, you'll probably have a feel for what will or will not work for you.

In addition to the 250's and the Vulcan 500 , you may wish to consider the Suzuki S40 and the Yamaha Vstar 650. You will want to look for older models to get better deals, and perhaps later in the summer availability will increase.

If you can find one, a used Kymco Venox can be pretty cheap (let someone else eat the depreciation ). They are 250 V-Twins, but much beefier than the Rebel/GZ/Etc. Very modern styling. They've gotten some good reviews.

I've got a GZ250, which is also a great bike. A lot of it will probably come down to personal preference.

yea I bought a Venox lol funny you said that and we got my wife a Hyosung Aquilla 250.
