This is a squid.
Usually squid refers to a rider that rides irresponsibly, lacks experience yets pops wheelies on a 1000cc sportbike for example, doesn't wear proper gear.., etc., etc.,
Here it's just referring to a noob.

On a ride in S Cal (the Hansen Dam Ride) the squids (squidi?) were the only ones crashing. Our fearless leader, un named editor of un named well known motorcycle magazine, was on a BSA Gold Star, which of course broke. The crashing squid caused a lot of grief for everyone else, about 400 of us, and we were far from slow.

With that many there was bound to be a few problems. Was it a fundraiser or something?

Every new registrant is called a "Tricycle Squid" until they've hit 5 posts (at 6 they graduate). The idea is that no one wants to be called a Squid so hopefully they post a lot just to get rid of it.
You can change your avatar at anytime by uploading your own photo so that at least you don't have to look at the Tricycle...
