When I am at work, I take the helmet in with me. When I go out to stores or where ever, I will lock it on my bike. For quick stops, I will just hang it from my mirror or lock it, depending on where I am and how visable my bike is from where I am.

I use this:

I have to say I love it.
I just put the cord through my helmet and then through something else sturdy on my bike.

I live in Miami. If you leave dog crap out long enough someone will take it.
I always take my helmet with me. It makes for a good conversation starter and too many jerks out there waiting to play pranks on people.

For quick stops, I hang it from the helmet lock, but I don't bother actually locking it. I was just hanging it from the handlebar, but kept accidentally hitting the kill switch. After a few episodes of cranking and cranking with no start, I decided to quit using the handlebar.

I lock it in my top box right now, unless I'm going to be gone for a while and it's hot. Putting on a hot helmet doesn't appeal to me.

Thanks for the input. I always ride with a helmet and jacket, I don't have the pants yet, and so far always took the helmet with me. Just never know who may want a helmet. My husband took his bike into the shop for some recall work. (We only ride the bikes on the weekend when it's descent out.) but when we picked it up the plate was gone. The shop was trying to tell us it fell off, but we think it was taken while at the shop. So with that said, I will always take my helmet with me cause you just never know. Thanks again for your responses.

I usually lock my helmet on my bike. I rarely take it with me. Its so inconvenient take a helmet with me. Cause I am so lazy to take sth with me. Haha

+1
Lift Visor
Apply Stanley knife to chin strap
Walk away with helmet in 15 seconds flat
No thanks, I'd rather keep mine with me...
Likewise for kids who see something that is designed to take impacts, and a pile of stones/sticks/ whatever else to test it with
Was just gonna say. Had that happen to me once. Locked up my brand new Aria and came back 10 minutes later to find just the rings and a scrap of the strap remaining........
Take it with you, even if some bas tard doesn't steal it, you never know if some drunk buggers mistook it for a roadside urinal or whatever.

In the past I usually locked mine to the helmet lock.
But recently I bought a new mirrored visor for my Arai helmet.
It cost over $70.00 and can be easily removed from the helmet.
I tend to take it with me now.

I rock the really inexpensive HJC full face lid and it stays with me all the time.
It helps explain why I look like a spaceman or snowmobiler.
