Have you been riding less because of gas prices?

I really want the BMW F650 GS Dakar or Suzuki V-Strom 650. From what the reviewers say and what I've heard from owners is that they don't have to fill up too often. Then again with my bike even putting in $8 the tank gets close to over filling. I guess raising the gear ratio and adding a new air filter really helps.

Anyway I really want to ride more but it's not gas prices it's that my jacket just doesn't look good to me anymore. I want that Icon Hooligan Stealth.

I try to commute with the bike as much as possible but even the bike riding is way down. No more just for the heck of it rides. I only take her out on group rides one day a week. Bugs the snot out of me that I am paying now to fill up my bike what use to fill up my car a year ago

And on the group rides I put about $60 in the bike for the day and then another $20 just so I have enough for the week to commute to work. I starting to feel guilty just to go out and have fun on the bike now

Funny, I thought it was just me. Yeah, the price of fuel has put a bit of a damper on my what the hell rides, especially since it cost around C$18 to fill my tank. Fuel is somewhere between C$1.50 to C$1.44 per litre, and I get around 170 kilometres per tank before the idiot light starts flashing at me.

So most of my riding has been commuting to work and back and doing grocery shopping or the like. Mind you I did go for a nice long night ride on Saturday after dusk, and added to my bug kill big time.

No the same. I still take the long way home from work when I'm on my bike. I really haven't changed my routine at all. I always used my motorcycles and bicycle as much as possible over my car.

Is it odd if I prefer to have some sort of purpose or destination when I ride? I enjoy taking the long way there, but I want some sort of purpose to it for some reason.

HeII, I can't remember the last time I was out in the car.

I took a couple of extra days on the weekend starting the 4th of July. Put 2200 kilometres (1367 miles) on the bike, just for the heII of it, and fuel up here is running around $5.74 per US gallon...

No change - at least, not because of petrol prices. I just hand over my card at the pumps and choose not to look at the price. A tank is a tank is a tank.

No change with the bikes, I'm retired and try to ride every day. I spend less time in the cage now days though with it costing $70 a fill.

I find my for the hell of it rides on the bike have gone up, as opposed to the one in my truck (none to speak of).

A bike is the last of the guilt-free ways to ride just for the hell of it...without needing a destination to get to. I don't use my truck for anything except to have to get somewhere...and have to carry something (like groceries)...and/or have passengers, etc.

And, my truck isn't even that big. Just a Ford Ranger with four cylinders and stick shift. I get 26 mpg with that thing. Still, you can't beat 54-55 mpg on the bike, ya know?

Any excuse or reason to ride is enough for me. I ride the bike as much as I can, not just because it gets at least 60 mpg, but it is fun. When the weather cooperates I ride, to work, on errands. Everytime I fill up the bike it saves me about $25 vs filling the Camry for the same number of miles. We have had a lot of rainy days so I have not ridden the bike as much as I would like.
