I have the engine guard from Kawasaki. It only protects the engine but after the accidents I've been in it seems that the handlebars do just as good a job.

I actually plan on modifying a highway bar made for the Yamaha 650 V-Star Custom since they're almost the same width. Another thing is that www.jpcycles.com has highway bars that may be universal but I never bothered to order them.

Any cruiser less than 600cc are usually thought of as short term bikes so no aftermarket parts are made or are hard to track down.

In the future I'll post some pics should I modify my crash bars. Right now I'm working on lighting and a better luggage rack. My engine is already tuned to the specs of a Ninja 500.

Seems your seeing the difference between highway bars engine only) protection vs true crash bars (engine and legs). PC crap. Crash bars are no longer politically correct so that's why there are highway bars instead.

If I go down the last thing on my mind is the bike damage.

Accessories for the 500 LTD has been reduced dramatically since they switched to the current frame config. (en500c) I think it was in the late 1990's but it would need to be confirmed.

as an EN500 owner, I will let you in a little secret. There are very VERY VERY few places to get any aftermarket parts for these bikes. I asked at the local kawi dealership and was told that it has alot to do with it being a very entry level bike. you'll notice the ninja 500, honda reble and the small yamaha cruiser (cant remember the name) dont have much in the way of aftermarket parts either. I think the way the company sees it is one will get the "baby" cruiser for a year or two and then move up. No shortage of parts for everything from the 750 up I notice.

About the only place I have found that has anything available for the 500 (other then the Kawi web site, and even that doesnt have anything really usefull) is Scootworks

As I said, its unfortunate as I plan on keeping my little "baby" cruiser for a few more years and would love to do some work to it, but the companies dont seem to notice that you cant buy a little entry level bike anywhere this year...maybe theyre popular? maybe you should get some aftermarket parts hmmm? Oh well, enjoy youre bike!

luckily the EN500 C6 and the EX500 (Ninja 500) both share the same engine that is tuned differently. Once I figured out how to tune it back again it runs pretty fast (negated by changing sprocket teeth count to allow relaxed cruising). There are carb kits and other engine parts available for the EN500 like my K&N air filter.

now as for body related parts you can only get windshields easily, OEM gas tanks, EBC brake rotor, various brake pads and stainless steel brake lines. for stuff like light bars and longer engine guards I had to turn to LED strips from Custom Dynamics and the V-star engine guard seems to fit okay but i'm still working on making sure that it will hold.

Now that i think about it I might as well see if I can turn this thing into the 2 cyl. version of the old Elminator.
