That looks to be it, I think. I gotta search some more and and examine later.
What do you reckon I could sell that for? I'd like to fix it up but I don't think it's really worth the effort - what do you think?

That '80 CX500 looks like it's a match to me. To verify it, check the VIN number. The first few digits ought to tell you the model and engine size (and the year?).

That's a lot of work for someone to restore. It hurts me to say this, but you'll probably make more money parting it out.

CB360, I looked at your link and the tank on the 1980 custom does not match. However the basic CX500 and the deluxe models do. Your right about the serial number which should be on the neck/triple tree in front of the gas tank.
Get busy Splifford, it'll be a great bike once restored. Be prepared to spend some $$$ though.

This is definitely a CX. The engine configuration is the key. As is the shaft drive. As to exactly which one I don't know.

Whatever it is exactly, it might not take all that much to get it running, but as for actually 'restoring' it, you'd have to do it as a labor of love, not money. There's so much cosmetically wrong with it I think you'd spend way more than you could get for the bike in the end. I think it would be a fun project - pretty cool bike - but I don't think it's a good candidate to make $$$ on - even if you do it all yourself and don't count your labor you'd end up spending a fair chunk on parts and paint and chrome, etc. I'm certainly not suggesting that you not fix it up - I love old Hondas - just that if you are looking for a project that might net you a few bucks, you should either find a rare bike older than that or maybe a non-running bike in decent cosmetic shape.

someone gave it to me so i wanted to see if it was worth trying to make it run. I dont give a "poo poo" what it looks - I just want it to run good. Do you know of a website that concentrates on motorcycle repair at all? or mechanics?
