Call the class people. Usually the boots MUST be of leather and can not be high top type hiking boots.
You should use gloves that are not too bulky, you should be able to reach the grips and work the controls without over working your hands - or they will tire out too easily. Go to a motorcycle shop and try some on.
Ultimately the glaves and the jacket should be the same, as in not too bulky, you should be able to move without being too constricted not to omuch bulk. Enough cover to keep you warm but not overheat. Good luck on your class. I wish you all the best and hope you pass with flying colors

The requirements are long sleeve jacket, boots and gloves. However if you have a leather jacket wear that, and the same should go for gloves. Leather blocks wind pretty well and that's your only enemy really when it's cold.

Having said that as someone who rides through the winter I doubt you will be going fast enough during the course to really freeze yourself.
Hi!

I'm taking mine in Sea Girt. It's the free course by the State. I asked my friends these questions and they can't remember because they took their courses a very long time ago.

Anyway, this helps. Thanks!
Always happy to help a fellow New Jerseyian (Jerseyan?). Hope the class goes well good luck!
