Hrm, I thought 650 nighthawks were newb friendly.

Edit: Ah I see you suggest the 450 at most for the nighthawk. I didn't even know they made those! What years were they made? It looks like Ill have alot of trouble getting my hands on that.

Ah well Im really not going to bash on 250's. I want my first bike to be a good commuter bike above all else... so Ill diffently like the MPG. until you leave the city limits where I live the interstate is 60mph, so she'll do fine.

For what it's worth, the 650 Nighthawk in my opinion is a decent newb bike. The only mark against it in the beginner dept would be that it's a little on the heavy side. It's not overwhelmingly powerful, and has a predictable powerband.

It didn't make it on our list simply because it isn't made anymore. The 450 was only made for two years I think, and you're right - they're not easy to find.

Yea thats what ive heard from others. I really am looking forward to finding a 250 nighthawk, but if I find a deal on a vulcan 500 or nighthawk 650 I dunno if I could pass it up

I think what draws me to the 250 nighthawk is the gas milage, having a much larger gas tank than the rebel, and hopefully really low insurance rates compaired to the 500 or 650's im looking at. Eventually I will move up maybe after a season or two... but Ill always want to keep that 250 around for little quick trips on this side of the city.

I've actually been looking a bit for a Nighthawk 250 myself. My wife is interested in learning to ride, and she likes the standard seating position. Of course, I would have to test-ride from time to time too, just to make sure it keeps running right.

It looks like a great bike, I too enjoy the standard bike position most of all. I havn't felt how a sport bike feels, but being 6'1" I dunno if it would be the most comfortable... much less riding it all over town. I just really hope I can find a used one around where I live. Since we have barnett harley davidson in town... almost everyone rides harleys.
