Just remember that we are talking Canadian dollars here. Makes for some pretty steep price differences, especially on the high end bikes.
Okay. Yep the US dollars vs. Canadian dollars is the issue here.

Plus we get to pay 7% Provincial tax, 7% Goods and Services tax,
Environmental tax on new bikes for battery and tires.

Ask him how much he pays for insurance and you may fall on the floor.

I think we pay some of the highest premiums.

Do you insure completely through ICBC, (Highway robbery specialist) or do you use private insurance for all the extras?

Megson Fitzpatrick in Victoria is an example... http://www.megsonfitzpatrick.com/motorcycle.htm

I use Coast Capital it's a little cheaper than Megson Fitzpatrick.

We can only buy extra liability, collision and theft - private - the rest is mandatory through the government.

What does your 599 cost you for everything????? I've got everything on my 800 Monster here in Calgary for about $660 a year....

If you don't go over 750cc you don't pay to much, but when you buy that bigger bike your insurance skyrockets. The law is that you have to get the basic from ICBC, you can get the rest from whoever you like. When I lived in Alberta it was cheap to insue bikes and cars if you shop around, but not here.

A good friend of mine has a 2004 Gold Wing and I agree, its a heck of a ride, they look and handle just like an overgrown sport bike!
