We all have different levels of what feels secure. I don't like sitting on a sport bike style with the feet back. It makes me feel insecure. However, sitting on my cruiser with my feet forward feels so good for me.

I don't think Rhadam will ever buy a used. At least if he hasn't changed much from when he was here ;)

When I first met him he basically told me upfront "I will not buy a used bike". I'm not sure what changed his mind, I'd like to think it was the fact that the bike was in absolute pristine condition and the extended warranty. However it was probably something more like his wife ;)

Personally I can't blame him because I never wanted a used bike ESPECIALLY not when I bought my second, no training wheels, bike. I wanted that brand new feeling :D

I've never had a new bike.

Not even a pedal bike.

They always handed down my older brothers bikes. I got all the leftover bikes at my grandmothers house when she came and lived with us. I had a great time disassembling two or three of the old balloon-tired bikes and building one out of the parts. I asked my Mom about that once and she said I'd have just taken a new bike apart anyway.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I feel I should try a sport bike and do write up from a cruiser riders perspective.

I have never ridden a sport bike so I want to confirm my choice or find out I am all wet.

I could see where that would be the case. My back was straight up when I sat on the bike. That seat was nice and comfortable, too compared to my bike.

That may be an answer - probably better for my insurance, too.

Well, I haven't actually sat on what I would consider a supersport bike - CBR600RR, CBR1000RR. It may be that unless my feet are as straight down as possible, I'll feel queasy.

I should try them, even if I don't feel any inclination to buy something that can move that fast.

Then again I saw a used 2002 Honda CBR600F4i for 4K, which I can definitely afford. But the reviews for that bike really stunk...

The wanna buy new.... It isn't much to do with the sparkly new feeling; although that is really nice. It comes from years of having used cars screw up on me and years (since then) of buying new cars that haven't screwed me.

I can't help buy apply it to bikes - even though I 'know' from this site that so many people out there buy used and do ok. Even though I bought used and did ok - the resistance is strong in me. Hell, I even know that it'll save me a load of money on insurance and that first maintenance.

BTW, Brackstone, I rode it in to work today, 88 miles round trip, but that includes going to the gym, too... Don't recommend riding to the gym, it makes for a painful process. It did work out though...

Oh, yeah, I liked your bike because it was in good condition, but you are correct, I'm a "dog" when it comes to my wife. :) I'm getting a little more leeway this time as I haven't a) died on the bike and b) managed to use it for a good number of commutes to work.
