Yup, sometimes timing is everything!
Sometimes "the miracle" is in the timing...
I'm sure that it's not 100% my fault that I still walk and talk.
I was lucky that van's brakes worked as good as they did that day, and that the driver was as quick as he was... If he needed an extra foot, it probably would've changed my life...
All we can do is improve our odds, but sometimes risk is fun too, so it becomes a trade off.
I hope to live till I die!

I can think of one episode that really got my heart rate up. I was only riding about 2 years. I was riding ahead of my husband on a rural road with sweeping turns. I came around one blind turn, to encounter an SUV completely in my lane. (And it's not even a narrow road). Heed the advice "LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO"! I did just that and focused on my only escape route, the narrow area on the shoulder of the road right next to the guardrail. As all this was happening in seemingly slow motion, all I could do was pray my husband got through okay, too, and thank the Good Lord, he did. After that, I had to pull over for awhile till my heart rate came down!

I can't fully participate in this game for fear of legal repercussions, but the closest call I ever had (that was my fault) was 2 years ago on the FJ. Belting down an empty hiway at dusk (bad idea) at 130MPH (more bad), came over a little rise and saw many deer (more than 10, less than 20, I'm guessing) all standing on the road.
Luckily there was a clear path through the herd and at that speed I was past them before they could react. I looked in the mirrors and saw them look up and around, but they must have decided it was a group hallucination, because they all went back to standing around like a bunch of idiots. Just in time for the minivan coming the other way to get locked up and skid through the middle of them.....
I hates me some deers..... F'n vermin.
