cleaning rims on a sport bike, what do you use?

FIRST: get race stands. Once it's up on the stands, you can rotate the wheels and clean them rather easily with something like Honda Spray Polish (aerosol can). By getting the bike up on stands you'll find that all you have to do is clean the wheel rather than fighting around the swing arm and forks...
I meant to do that.

I use a Sears motorcycle jack,
on grease and tar I use cheap brake cleaner and then some semichrome polish. soap and water otherwise.

i agree with the simple green, works great on dirt bikes can be a little rough on paint dont leave it on to long i work for ocal govt we use a littlebleach in the water allthe time but it will strip wax for sure but it works good with a good cleaner that greased lighting works great also those older 600's are great bikes (good luck)

i'VE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH TAR AND BUG REMOVERS. rEMEMBER, YOU MUST USE A PETROLEUM BASED PRODUCT TO GET THAT KIND OF DIRT OFF. IF SPOKE WHEELS, USE A BABY BOTTLE BRUSH...SPRAY/LET ST/SPRAY AGAIN/USE BOTTLE BRUSH.

I've got white wheels... The bike looks good for a couple hours once or twice a year (after I wash the bike and roll it into the garage).
I use Simple Green for a quick wash, and hit the grimy spots with a sponge or "wheel brush," if needed. For a thorough cleaning, I use S100 wheel cleaner. Amazing.
