Went back and read your original post... and then sat scratching my head trying to figure out why you would want a Venture. Oh well.
I would MUCH rather have the VTX 1300, not to mention some of the other better choices that other people had suggested.
Have fun.

i had the 1800, not the 1300. and now i've got a 1300, in a v-4
i didn't want a bagger originally, but the ride yesterday proved my logic sound. two hours through a driving rain storm with temps in the high 30's and low 40's. i stayed dry, warm, and comfortable the whole way. come october and november (maybe even december) i'll be much happier commuting on this then something with less wind protection.
i know, i know, i didn't buy the super kewl awesomers motorcycle. this one's old mannish, and kinda ugly, but it's a workhorse, and it's exactly what i need for the next two years.

Ya, I thought you had a 1300.
Glad to hear you're happy, that is what really counts.
Have fun and ride safe.

Totally different bikes. VTX is a cruiser and the original Venture is a Touring bike with great handling. Back then, it was the only Japanese Touring bike that wasn't a Goldwing clone. It definitely had a much more sporting flavor to it. It was a cross between a touring bike and a sports tourer.
