It isn't. I take along the basics and the primary items....money and cell phone. If I'm stranded, I have a cell phone to call for help. If I forget something or need something, I buy it locally. Going through that checklist would not only take about as much time as it would to reach the destination, but would not even fit on the bike.

Man you sure gear up and really camp camp when you go. When I used a tent I just used the smallest $20 tent I could find. Im most cases Im using a ground sheet and a tent fly. I guess I could take a few more things with me for comfort the next time I go. You have put together a great list to follow.

You wouldn't believe the stuff I take. Heck my tent is also a garage for the bike. Between saddle bags, tank bag, rear bags, self inflating double air matress, and tent I figure I added about 180lbs to the bike (good thing I'm small). Keep in mind I go for 2 to 6 weeks non stop and plan for ending up when there may not be alot of services. The average weekender would not require near as much. When travelling I like to be as self contained as possible. And not near as fun when in a cage (for me anyway).

I am keeping your 2 to 6 weeks in mind, as I did a few 4 to 8 month trips with not much more then a back pack and tank bag. My 2 week trips I just take a back pack, a ground sheet and fly, which only comes to about 40lbs. Im thinking maybe I should be taking more, but as Ive looked through the list again, which is a great one, I find maybe I multiy use as much as possible and take more survival stuff then an excess of clothes. Also I get into the frame that if it dont fit in the bag its not going. Your right about changing in bathrooms. Food wise I found that safeway and IGA have great menu options, for a great price. If I keep traveling by bike I maybe should get some saddle bags and tail bag.
