well yeah...you gotta expect to get mauled occasionally when you run out of goodies.

Just train him to go on the neighbors lawn like most good dog owners in the city.......not all, but most.......

it is easy to train them to use the neighbors yard.let them see you use it for about a week.

i have a 10 year old dog that eats the cats "poo poo".

all dogs do that. Apparently it's a great source of protein

We used to live next to the crazy cat lady of the neighborhood. "I decided to feed these strays because I didn't want them to eat the birds .... " My wife wouldn't let me (The cats OR the lady) so we had to deal w/ the dogs having a catpoo smorgasbord every time the went outside.

I trapped 30 cats one summer. Didn't make a dent.

Shoot the birds. Then she has no case for hoarding stray cats....

I have a rottie/boxer mix and a pitbull mix, both dogs weren't complety potty trained until they were like 6 or 7 months old, the pitbull we had to crate for a bit longer because she was nuts and she was pissing in her crate until she was 1 year old.

Coupla things:

1. Crate-training is technical and takes attention to detail. Otherwise it takes forever and doesn't work all that well.

2. When I was potty-training my first dog, my Dad talked to a friend about how frustrated I was getting, nearly a nervous breakdown. The friend's response? "Dog and master are coming along just fine." I.e., you are being trained along with the dog.

3. Dogs eat poo because it still smells like food, somewhere in there. It's not a "great source of protein", but it's an indication the excreting pet is eating significantly more than it needs (so the lady next door is wrong; they're eating the birds too). Which may be the right thing, if it's a growing animal. When the dog is getting them from the cat box, the girls at the vet's office call them "kitty granola bars".

Max was 16 weeks old yesterday and is pretty well house broken . After getting his next series of shots yesterday he had a little accident in the car . I figure it was a combo of heat and shot .
He had the biggest bowel movement of his life in the back of my Camaro.
That was lovely ..............not!.........
And all my dogs have at some point loved kitty tootsie rolls . No longer keep a sand box which helps . They use the pet door . altho Max comes to tell me to please go outside with him . He likes the company .
We just got back as a matter of fact.
Oh yeah and he weighed in at a little over 38 pounds yesterday .
He gonna be a moose .
