I carry mine with me, but I haven't ridden to the movies or places like that. I have gone to the supermarket and other shopping and I put the helmet in a shopping cart. My bike has a helmet lock, but the helmet hangs on or very close to the exhaust so I never use it.

I just wear mine, even off the bike, it's safer that way.

...joking :) . Seriously though, if it seems like a safe place I just leave it on the bike, either on the sissy bar (backrest) or on the handlebars. If I'm not comfortable I just carry it with me. Never tried the helmet locks. I have so much gear to remove when I'm done riding I don't want to take another 60 seconds to secure the helmet :P.

I take it that you don't attempt to chew bubble gum while walking eh?

I use to use my helmet lock, then some prick used a blade to cut it off and steal it, now it comes with me everywhere I go.

If I can see my bike, I often use those clips that you clip water bottles, to clip it on the handlebars behind the mirror. It is easy to string it through the metal tab on the helmet. When in doubt I take it with me :)

It is a good question. When I follow my wife and kids to the store, jacket, helmet and gloves come off and go in the car. I still get hot with two sets of pants on, but it is a PITA to take the pants off. I end up walking a lot in my riding boots, but this has been detrimental to my boots tread life.

But I do want new boots...

I usually carry my helmet. Of course when I commute to work I bring it in and put it on top of the cabinets.

I don't shop alone on my bike much. I have a tail bag and saddle bags, but I don't like going out for short rides. From what I hear that's when bad things happen.

Carry mine. Only way to know what has happened to it and who has urinated on it...

A Leather has been my choice of outerwear for a couple of decades (have pictures of me on a Tunisian beach wearing one)

My boots get worn all day whenever I am on the bike, and frequently when I am feeling lazy and they are the closest to the door.

full face - carry it
skid lid - stuff it in the saddlebag (it's worked so far)

depends. i would normally take my helmet with me. but i went riding with some friends and we stopped at a fast food place for lunch. weren't going to be in there long and could see what was going on if i were worried. so it stayed on my bike. hung from my handlebars. time and place are important. but for the most part i'd rather have my helmet with me or locked up rather than hanging out on my bike.

I just put one on my wife's bike the other day. The cost was $22 from a bike shop. They come in two sections that are screwed together around your handlebars. the screws are tamper proof so don't cross thread them when you put it on as you will be cutting them off. They don't unscrew. They have a key that just unlatches the hook for your helmet clasp . I mounted mine in the exact middle so the helmet rests on the tank. It was easy to install.

Otherwise I carry mine with me, even into the movies. I have a V Star that has a built in lock but the stupid thing is right where I mounted my saddle bags which rendered it useless.
