No. You can't know what sort of life that helmet lived. The energy absorbing foam can only take one good hit before it's worthless, and the hard plastic shell may not show this. Also, if somebody stored the helmet frequently on mirrors, or backrests, whatever, that's a great way to compress the foam too.

I have an interesting question: are some ski helmets suitable for riding a bike? It's just that here
in the article, some helmets are very similar to those worn by moped owners. Or is this helmet design not suitable for motorcyclists?

I'll prefer to ride without helmet instead of putting on a used helmet, just think if it was useable then why its owner sold it out??? Might be you think for the sake of new one but here is the point why they needed to have new one?? Used helmets aren't suppose reliable at all.
