JC I know for a fact the police, firefighter, and athlete ones aren't correct on your list. All because of one very good friend of mine. He wasn't really into much besides work when I met him at 14 years old and he was around 38. Now he's somewhere around 50 and his list of accomplishments since I met him are as follows.
1. He has competed in the Race to the Summit (run up Barr's trail up Pikes Peak.)
2. Oldest rookie to ever make it on the Colorado Springs Fire Department since it was established in 1870 at 45 years old.
3. Avid mountain biker (also ridden up Barr's trail) and fisherman.
4. Was also offered place in Police Officer training at 45 years old but declined to take the Firefighter one instead.

So seriously, chin up, things are brighter than they seem. Look at it this way. You are still in school, I flunked out once and dropped another. You have a steady job. I just got canned after a month and am starting another on Tuesday. You have a bike. I haven't had one since 2007. All in all I'd say you have a better life than I'm going with right now. Chin up!
Have owned - 2001 Suzuki Volusia
Current bike - 2005 Kawasaki Z750S
MMI Graduation date January 9th, 2009. Factory Certifications in Suzuki and Yamaha

Glad you're back with us, JC! Sorry things haven't improved for you in the meantime, though. I was wondering about a couple of things.
I used to be so fun and upbeat.

I've become so lame without even knowing it.
What was your life like when you were fun & upbeat? I mean, how old were you, where were you, stuff like that.

And I don't recall where you are going to school or what you are studying, although I'm under the impression it was motor related. How the heck are you managing to support yourself and go to school in NYC at the same time?

Sorry dude, I rarely even pay attention to myspace.

But hey, you have money saved up for the racing school, right? Is it enough to take a week or three off from work? Can you get that time off? Sounds like the perfect opportunity to go for a ridecation. Ever had the urge to have a good lobster? Best place to get one is Maine, might as well ride there and have one. How about a good philly cheese steak, Philidelphia or bust! See where I'm going with this?

Basically what I'm sayin is you need to change your scenery, at least for a while.

PS - Yeah, i'm a facebook mean now. That's me that just added you with about 10 suggestion, people from here.

PPS - If you DO go to maine, hit me up, I'll take most any excuse to ride up there. Could score us some free lodging in Portsmouth.

I'm sure this is only going to make you defensive or upset you, but that is not my intention, so I hope you're able to see that.

You are 24. The only person who controls your life is you. Your life, every day, is going to be what you make of it, and only you. Thinking about the coulda woulda shoulda of your life if your parents had done X, or you had done Y, by some magic date....gets you sitting there on your duff thinking about what ifs that can never be. All its going to do is depress you.

Does it suck when you don't have a lot of friends? Yes. But you have to do things to make friends, they don't come find you. It just doesn't happen.

Go to the racing school. Or start doing track days, or doing other hobbies you enjoy. When you surround yourself with people who have hobbies similar to yours often you will develop friendships with them that will deepen over time. It takes time to make real true friends. It just does. There's no magic friend button or secret way of getting people to be friends with you - you just have to be you and do what you enjoy doing, and people will find you.

We all have our spells being down - life is a freakin' rollercoaster of ups and downs for all of us. It's how you cope and what you make of things that gives you your life.

I started my life from scratch at 19, moving 3000 miles away from everything I knew to start a life out here in Boston. It was extremely hard to make real friends out here. East coasters are just different types than west coasters. But you know what? It happened eventually, and I wouldn't hesitate to start my life from scratch again.

Set goals, figure out what you need to do to achieve them, and then go do it. People will likely come to you as a result of you succeeding at doing what you want to do. You have to keep plugging away at things. If what you are doing now is not working, then its time to change it. Only you can do that, and only you can do it through action.
