I was following Hubby home yesterday, he on his VStar and me in the Forrester, and I got very irritated with 2 tailgaters. One I actually honked at, he was such a turd. The other, a lady in an SUV.

I made a small discovery. If I tailgate them, fiercely and enough to the left side of the lane that I am clearly in their side mirror, they tend to back off somewhat. I think it is a response to feeling squeezed, and since they can't make the bike go farther up the road, they hang back just a wee bit. Also, the first response to a tailgater is to put on the brakes, in hopes that I will learn my lesson. HAH! I was an avid expressway tailgater in my youth, and I can spend hours fixated on your rear bumper and taillights. I have nothing else to do all day than to gauge my distance off of your "O Ring".  Of course, I am much more emotionally mature now, and have no need for such juvenile recompensatory actions. Unless one deserves it for trying to attack my beloved, whether out of above-mentioned maturity levels, or simple gross negligence.:whistling:

1 Question. Why didn't you throw her on the back of your bike and ride to the place?

Why didn't I throw her on the back of my bike and ride to the place ? Well, they say opposites attract, and in our case that holds true. We have been married for 45 years and I can count on the fingers of my right hand how many times she has ridden with me.

The lady just doesn't get motorcycles....but then I just don't get knick-knacks and arts and crafts either. She never tried to change me, and I know better than to try and change her. Like I said, I ain't stupid

I broached the topic of following me with the kids in the van to my wife today, and she looked at me like i was nuts.

Not that I'm NOT nuts, but in this particular case - I started to say, but the OTHER wives on TMW forums do it...

and realized that might be riding further down nutty lane :D

as far as people braking to get tailgaters off them, i found the solution.

This is what i'm getting for my truck. let them hit their brakes or try to cut me off again.

I think this would be a better deterrent to all sorts of driving issues...
