I misread that.

I haven't purchased one of these yet so what I use now is a heavy Master Lock and just thread it through one of the holes on the rear disk. I carry it in one of the pouches on my saddle bag. I also use the fork lock. I am planning a 2 day trip this weekend and will be staying at a hotel with secured parking. I know that is not fool proof but with the locks and the cover it should be alright.

If someone wants your bike they are going to get it no matter what kind of security measures you have taken.

That was a different sytle of circular single chambered locks. This one won't do that.

Nice lock, but I ended up getting the OnGuard Boxer disc lock. Same type of security at about half the price.

Its not about stopping them as much as making it more difficult. If you have two bikes side by side and one has a lock and the other does not which one you taking?

If its more difficult for them to take it will often deter them from doing so.

but what would happen if one forget the key of security lock is there any replacement key as well

wouldn't some thing like this work just as well if not better at half the price. or is there something i am missing. the only thing i could think of would be a clearance issue. i drive commercial trucks in new york. part of my routs bring me into bad areas like red hook and east new york brooklyn, corona and hollis queens. since seeing this review i have been paying attention to how people secure their bikes. seems most people here use a combination of a few methods. the most common is an giant lock laced through the break rotor, a massive traditional chain laced through the wheels, tying them to together and locked or the same chain laced through the back wheel and around some thing like a telephone or light pole. the most common locks i see are solid body americans. i've been using these locks for years on every thing from trucks, vans and garages, and have never seen one fail. and they are a real pain to cut when i've lost the key.
