That's what I did on mine. Very easy to do, just remove the switch and connect the leads back together on the frame.

I misspoke when I said the bike wouldn't start. It will start either way, but when you release the clutch to move forward it will stall if the stand is left down. A neat idea but not really necessary if you make it part of your startup sequence.
