Motards are kind of a waste where I live in straight, flat, south Jersey. That bike would be a ton of fun in a place with more curves and hills.

We've got the same thing here in NYC but these motards come in really handy for dodging taxis and clogged streets. Not sure if you live in a town or big city.

Lumberton where I live is a small town, but I make into Manhattan midtown on business about once a month. I see a few motorcycles there but mostly scooters - seen some pretty impressive traffic dodging.

Not sure about that. 100 more cc's than the current 696 engine and only one more hp? I'm going to assume the performance would be very close to a Monster 696.

Hi RC Fan ... That 81 number probably is the torque... check out the monster in the model guide part of this web sight. Or is could be the hp at the rear wheel as manufactures usually rate horse power at the block. I hear the difference from the block to the rear wheel is about a 13% drop. So the 81 number falls close to the 13% drop or 87% of the block hp.
Power* 69,8 kW - 95 hp @ 7.500 rpm
Torque* 10,5kgm - 75,9lb-ft @ 6.000 rpm
The above info I copied from the model guide for an 1100 Ducati.

I read accountings where riders claimed wheelies were a problem in 2nd and 3rd gears. To much bike for me... but they sure are nice.

Consider ... 75.9 torque/396 lb = 5.21 pounds of weight per 1 foot pounds of torque ... those are number you find on 640 hp corvettes and other hundred thousand dollar sport cars. Ducs are lighting ... habusas just disappear.... if one can get the power to the pavement.

I was referring to this new 796 mill, not the 1100.

No worries! I haven't tried an 1100, but the 696 (and probably the 796 by the sounds of things) could use a few more ponies for sure!
