Me thinks it'll be a few years of riding under my belt before I get that brave.
Do you ride throughout the year? If so, you'll get caught in the snow sooner or later. Scary for me to ride in, but it's doable.

A frontal lobotomy helps. And be prepared to change your name; in the summertime everyone calls me "Mike" but in winter it's "Crazy B*stard" for some reason.

No I just passed the safety course end of July this year. I decided to wait until spring to buy my first bike hoping to find a good deal on a used one over the winter. I should have enough saved to be looking in the 5 or 6 k range by then. So I won't have any payments.

Although everyday on the way to school I pass by two dealerships and makes me think twice on the way there and way back whether I should have just bought now :( One is a Ural dealer.

Speaking of which  Mike it is so cold your Hiway of Heros sticker fell off yours.

If it was a problem, then why would folks be selling RAIN GEAR?

I've ridden in the rain a couple times -- not by choice, I got "caught" -- and the bike is fine. I did dry it off when I got it home into the garage.

There's a guy around here who has a bike with a sidecar that he rides in the middle of winter. Quite the site to see when its -40F and you hear a rumble pull up next to you and see a fellow biker braving the cold, snow and ice. Not my cup of tea though, in the winter I like four wheels...that all move...

If I want to ride lots, I have to ride in the rain.....the bike has never had a problem, and believe me, it rains a lot here.
