personal opinion here... but i think the cell phone being added in is because it's the new tobacco. i never read/hear of people wanting to outlaw eating in a vehicle, or changing a radio station, or the driver being able to carry on a conversation with someone in the car. all of these can be distractions. shoot, has anyone ever had to drive their kids somewhere? they are distracting. especially when they're a year old and locked away in the back screaming and crying. they aren't outlawed.

did we just start having bad drivers once we got cell phones? are you telling me that if we took away cell phones we would no longer have bad drivers? are you telling me that all of these bad drivers with cell phones would be great drivers without them?

give me a break. :crosstheline: :soapbox:

Dean and Skier are absolutely right, folks. This is a new twist on an old theme. It has bugger all to do with cell phones, it happened in Sweden, it is a recreation of an actual accident, not the real thing and it happened back in 2005.

You can't believe everything you get in an email.

Wow...i'm begining to regret putting this post up. I never saw it before, thought it was relivant and whatnot, so I posted it. Sorry...I'll never do it again...

And Gummie's right, you can't believe everything you read in an email. I usually take it all with a grain of salt. Half the crap i get is usually just that (esp. the emails that all start with "verified by snopes!").

Regardless of what the real story is...get off the damn phone on your bike, in your cage...where ever...and slow the "F" down on your bike, in your cage, etc. Save it for the track.

I know its preaching to the choir here...but there are a lot of dumb people out there that don't get it.

We're not getting on your case for this, we're just trying to prevent the spreading of an inaccurate chain email. You actually did good by bringing attention to something that IS relevant to all motorcyclists - and it is not your fault that the info was skewed.

I don't mind things like this as long as they are accurate. I don't know if it did anything, but the drunk driver cars on the high school lawns had some kind of impact.

I think one of these images - or perhaps one from the original accident is on one of those anti-motorcycle sites.

Heck - even if they are inaccurate at least it has some cause for thought - and defense of the things we do.

Well, I for one agree completely with the concept of NO cell phones whatsoever by drivers in or on any vehicle. It is just crazy to think you can function with all the reflexes required while talking on a phone.

I have heard all the arguments about eating , talking, smoking all being OK so why not cell phones. Sorry that is just silly talk. Cell phones have been proven time and time again to cause more accidents all over the world.
