And what's the logic behind a smoking ban in a welding shop??? I never understood why I can't smoke next to some guy burning 2 feet of flux-coated rod a minute creating billows of extremely toxic smoke......
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Yes but if there were smoking establishments, you non smokers wouldnt have to breathe our air, cause when we want a smoke we could go into a smoking establishment which you non smokers would steer clear of. But that is freedom of choice. And like Buzz says there are lots more damaging health hazzards. ie when you fill up the car the fumes from fuel, not to mention airplanes that chuck out tons of pollution. And not to mention certain buisiness's that chuck out all kinds of pollution. Whatever happened to freedom of choice? The next thing here is they're targeting overweight people, How would you like to be oestrasied cause you're overweight, they have already done it to the smokers!

America these days resembles more of a capitalistic socialist state than a democracy. Hell, I don't think America has ever been a true "Democracy", per se.

So you're telling me that if there were smoking establishments that you 'smokers' would go there, and ONLY there, to smoke? I don't buy that. My mom smoked when I was growing up and my sister and I would ask her to atleast SMOKE OUTSIDE. She couldn't even do that. She would say that it's her house and she could smoke in it when she wants. It didn't matter that we had to breathe it.
I completely disagree with the idea of smoking, but I'm not a smoker. I can't understand why anyone DOES smoke, but that's beyond me. I guess all I can ask for is the same that everyone else is, DON'T SMOKE AROUND ME!

And about overweight people. They're ALREADY targeting overweight people. There's a reason they target smoking and obesity. IT'S UNHEALTHY... Both will lead you to an early death, and both are disgusting. Some people will say that smoking isn't hurting them. I look at my grandparents. On my mother's side (the smokers), they're both about to die, old and wrinkly, can barely do daily tasks. On my dad's side (non-smokers), they still act young. They look ALOT younger than on my mom's side. Plus my grandpa (non-smoker) has had several heart attacks (heart diseases run in the family), and he's much more active STILL than my smoker grandpa.

Exactly what he said!!!!!!!!!!!! Fatty you really raised some valid points.

And it's true smokers do age quicker.

Besides what about the people that have to work in smoking establishments, I would bet most pay minimum wage or not much more, and don't say only people who smoke work there, I think some people don't have a choice, they just need a job. :?

You're right about people working in the smoking establishments. My wife is a server at Applebee's. She's as much against smoking as I am, and she works around stale smokey air all the time. She likes working there, it's just the smoke that gets to her.

just how would the ban smoking everywhere advocates replace the
$19,023,400,000 tax dollars that are collected in the U.S.annually from tobacco sales.or maybe the state and federal thieves wont miss this amount??what about the thousands working in the tobacco industry?
and while we are banning stuff why not alcohol in a public place so we dont have to put up with loudmouth drunks when trying to enjoy a night out?and obese people in public?who wants to see that?

The tobacco industry/government relationship is one of the greatest examples of hypocrisy in existence. Govt. condemns tobacco, gratefully takes the tax money, Phillip Morris [tobacco company] offers advice on how to quit smoking while they and everybody else direct ad efforts toward sucking in kids and new customers. Arghhh!
