Dealer product knowledge

Motorcycling is a hobby(at least in the US). I know what I want when I go into a bike dealer so I don't need nor expect the salesman to know every single spec. All four bikes that I currently own, I knew what I wanted, walked into the dealership, and bought it that day(with the exception of the Hypermotard which took 2 visits). That being said, my experience has been different from the OP's as all 4 salesman knew their stuff extremely well.
