beanies or Bell Drifters close to Vancouver, Canada ?

I don't know about out on the coast, but here, the cops know what a beanie is and what DOT is and isn't. And would not hesitate a second to issue a no helmet ticket or more if they thought the sticker was faked.

I am surprised that it is so hard to find a Bell helmet out there. I noticed there did seem to be a lack of any kind of motorcycle related bussinesses when I was there this spring. I seen a few dealers and shops around, but not like you see out here. Probably due to the quad and sled trade, but you can find a Big 4 dealer in almost any town and multiples of everything in any larger center. I live in a small town and have all 4 Japanese brands and a private Harley shop all with 10 minutes walk from my house. None of 'em sell Bell helmets though.... I know Argyle Motorsports in Edmonton do, I'm sure there's many more there as well.

Sucks that it's so hard to find bike stuff out there. I was amazed at how few bikes I seen there, considering it is about the only place in the country you can ride all year round.

I would also check with your insurance company, you will probably find that wearing a non-approved helmet will affect any insurance claims should you be unfortunate enough to suffer a head/brain injury.

ICBC (and the private companies) will make a considerable cut to any payout for drivers not wearing a seatbelt, as they have previous court rulings on their side, so you can bet they will do the same for an unapproved helmet. This applies regardless of who's fault the accident was.

I'll stick to Bell Drifter then, they're DOT. But wouldn't buy online cause my head is incompatible with some helmets. And no, it's not square or anything

Very simply - A DOT approved helmet will have a DOT sticker on the back; a non-DOT approved helmet won't.

oops, whenever I buy shiny new things I remove all stickers. Therefore my DOT full-face does not have any, either on the outside or on the inside. Neither does my bike (stickers, logos, whatever)

Let's think for a second, no police officer would risk being sued for badgering a biker who just does't have the stickers. Especially since all those lawyers took on riding...

Now seriously, I have heard they're not legal but so are the loud pipes and AIS-less motors and many other mods we do to our bikes. Noone will ever pass the motorcycle skill test on a 9+ft custom chopper. Some laws just cannot be enforced.
