I was given a biker bell a while back as a gift from my Uncles friends when they found out that I'd started biking. I've kept it ever since. I don't really believe in it, but it's nice to know that someone cares about me. So it'll always be on my bike, I'll switch it from one to the next until I'm either dead, or to crippled to keep biking.

I must confess that while I'm not into the magic vibe stuff, My mom has always had a St. Christopher medalian somewhere in her cars -- it's actually the first thing she puts in her new cars. I don't know the exact relation, but it's supposed to protect you on the road.
When I first started riding, I remember stopping at a gas station and putting my hand in my pocket, thinking, 'WTF is that?' and pulling out a St. Chris medal that mom had put in my pocket when I wasn't around.
I've kept it in my bike jacket pocket ever since -- more of a connection to mom than anything else -- like it's been said, it's nice to know someone cares about me.

Actually the bell use to be called the Fresno Bell and it was a tradttion started here in Fresno . Had nothing to do with hocus pocus . This is use to be the bike building capital before the advent of commercialism that you see today .
It was just a kewl custom thing and normally we all used a little brass bell .
These could be seen in early rags like Sleazy Rider. Then someone thought "Gee , I can make some $$$$$ off of this idea" and you get what is now spread across the nation and maybe even the globe .
I have always had bells on my scoot , it use to be an identifier of our locale.
Kind regards, Wizzard

The bears have since learned to follow the dingling noise to food. Much like the icecream truck.
I've always thought of tents as saran wrap for people.

for most of the bigger bikers its called the "taco bell".
its supposed to keep you from having to use the seat belt on the toilet bowl after a few mexican pizza's and nacho cheese chalupa's
.
