Politics...
Poli = many
Tics = blood sucking creatures

I'm with you on this one!

:laughing:

Is that why Canada pushed for Vancouver? To wow the world? :frusty: No doubt Vancouver is a gorgeous city, landscape-wise as well as infrastructure-wise. No doubt the world will be impressed with it's beauty, snow or no snow. :lol:

I did hear that they finally got some snowfall today. :D

Lol, actually, I have no idea how they choose any particular city.

From what I've seen, I'm not convinced the people doing the choosing do either.

This is terrible! Now they are predicting rain the next 3 days with temps as high as 9C(49F) and they cancelled today's downhill training due to poor conditions after one skier crashed. :(

I spent the day today at Canadas last Olympic ski hill - Nakiska from '88. No snow there either :laughing: And that man-made stuff just doesn't do it. Overall though a bad day skiing is better than a good day at work :righton: Now if I just wouldn't have held that garage sale while jumping with my 11y.o., I might not be sitting here licking my wounds tonight....

Vancouver is a beautiful city and always ranks very highly on the lifestyle and travel polls. I am glad so many people (athletes and spectators) are given a reason to visit this wonderful place.

The city itself is not known for cold winters or snow, but the mountains are quite famous for their skiing and snowboarding. Whistler/Blackcomb and Cyprus are highly regarded places for the winter sports so I am not surprised it was on the list for possible Olympic cities.

However, I still agree that Calgary is a better choice for winter Olympics. Vancouver would have been stunning for a summer Olympics.

Oh well.

GO CANADA! :canada:
