The 356 is a "special edition" Porsche. Very few were made and even less exist now. This one has a very rich racing history. I'd post up pics of his "other" car but this is just about his Vincents. He's got 2 more but I don't have pics of them. I think one is a Black Shadow and the other a Black Lightning...(Every Vincent he has, is kept in 100% running condition.) He is doing some refurbishing on the red Rapide currently.

All in running condition? Excellent! With several bikes, does he have some sort of system for keeping them in good running condition (weekly/rotational rides, specific ride lengths, etc)? Thanks for posting - very cool bikes!

Hi Drumwrecker - we haven't met before. Well done for resurrecting this post which I hadn't spotted.

Aren't all those bikes just fab!

Would love to go to the classic bike show, when is the next one?

BTW your bike collection sounds pretty cool too :D

That's not my bike collection, just a list of bike owned over the years.
As You can see I did have a Vincet, 1948 Rapide uprated with the larger carbs. It was once owned by Freddie Cooper who sprinted Triumphs and had a twin engined bike called Cyclotron which I believed he took to Bonneville for world record attempt I think the Daily Express sponsored him.
The sprint connection goes on as I bought my Ariel Arrow new from Moto of Catford and the owner, a bloke called Gordon Colquhoun sponsored Charlie Rouse on their Vincent.
In the mid senventies I joined a club called the Chiltern Classic Motorcycle Club who met at the Chequers pub at Prestwood near Gt. Missenden, Bucks. The Chairman was a bloke named Ron Kemp who had about ten Vincents in boxes in his loft. His pension he said. He rode an Egli vincent with a large capacity tank he made himself, I watched him working on it. He started a company called Vintec making Vincent spares. Also in the club was a bloke named Stevens I think his christian name was Eddie and he wrote Know Thy Beast. Another menber was Tim Kingham who raced Vincents for a time and now his son has taken over the racing bit. I know of at least three other members who had Vincents.
Coming up to date to when I got back into bikes again in 2005 I joined the Stevenage Club who's chairman is Tony Brown, son of George Brown who was a world record holder for many years in sprinting with Nero and Super Nero as well as an Ariel Arrow. He was also chief tester a the Vincent factory in Stevenage.
So you can see one way or another I kept bumping into people connected with Vincets and not really realising the significence of these people as it was normal for the time.
Google the names and you will see what I mean.
There should be some pictures on my web page at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/roncoombs/ ... ctions.htm
