Yes everyone is correct about the good things a winshield will do and it also protects you from rocks ,but the bike looks sweet without the windshield and saddle bags,I will be investing in both if I plan on going anywhere with the bike other then spinning around the area on sunny days.

well they do help but for cooler weather something like an electric vest is hard to beat. and handlebar warmers. considering the price of fuel, I might just use my bike through the winter. At least on better days

I don't much care about the wind protection that a windshield offers. I do like the fact that it makes for significantly warmer rides when it's cold out. The number one reason I use it on the highway is protection from objects at high speed.
I was sold on windshields after I hit a swarm of bumble bees at 70 mph without one. I had little bumble be sized bruises all over after that one and it nearly knocked me off the bike. A few years later, with windshield in place, an 18 wheeler in front of me blew a tire at 75 mph. Large chunks of rubber came flying back with enough force to break the windshied (a NC Plexifairing). That rubber hailstorm would almost certainly have taken me off the bike at speed.
There's all kinds of road debris that can become dangerous if it hits you at highway speeds. My various shields over the years have deflected enough of junk to make me not want to ride without one.

you are not the first one to mention the junk that you get hit with ,nor the first with a tail of getting the windshield smashed off by a pice of junk flying up off the road or a rock ,I dont ride on the freeway if i dont have to, i passed a bike off to the side of the freeway that had just ran over a chunk of rubber from a blown tire with lots of steel belt starnds hanging off it ,i said to myself when i saw him that he was very lucky he didnt get hurt,he had a mess of wire strands from the tire to unravel and cut off his bike .the cruser i have has me sitting in a volnerable position ,I am glad I have the windshield on there now.you see blown tires all the time along the side of the freeway and sometimes in the travel lane and they are real serious threats for a biker ,i stay clear of the freeway .the bike is not my main teransportation at my age ,its my theropy, that new windshied looks real nice on there.

We need a new picture now. I don't have the money for saddlebags, so I have a blue crate to match my bike, mounted on the rack.
