Not very likely they will back off. They have the investment to recoup and you would regret going to a DMV to do it yourself. I had mine done by the dealer and I rode my bike outta there with the license plate and registration within an hour.

With the FZ6 I recently bought - I just paid the fee and was out of there as soon as possible - on a late night in the middle of the week and rode it home. You can't really do that if you are going to take care of the paperwork yourself. I guess it is just one of those pains you have to deal with until such time your best friend is the owner of a motorcycle dealership that has a great selection.

How'd this turn out for you? I didn't come back to this thread til now but $5000 OTD doesn't seem unreasonable. I'd have to agree that the DMV is generally a "hell on earth" with employees ready to stick you with their horns and slap you around with their spade tails. If you buy and don't pay the $300 for documentation make sure you register in the middle of the month on a weekday after lunch.
If it's still sitting there maybe try again to haggle down? That bike is just taking up space for newer models. Sooner or later they're going to really want to unload it.

Still waiting for them to blink first. The real trick is being there if/when they finally decide to drop the price a little more. If someone else comes in before me and gets the offer that's going to suck. I agree with you guys, the asking price seems fair even with the doc fee. If they would lower it just a couple hundred I'd probably go for it.

I'm looking at getting a Triumph Bonneville $7,699. The dealer told me the extra cost added to the price of the bike is; $300 tax, $150 shipping and and $150 for the title and tags. Total cost = $8299.
I know in S.C. I can run up to the DMV and deal with the title and tags on my own. Saving me $150.
I'm also going to pay cache for the tax and shipping. I choose not to pay interest on taxes if I take out a loan.
