That's when they went more towards sport touring. They got rid of the gear driven cams which just sounded awesome and added the complicated VTEC which unlike their cars, added nothing to the performance of the bike

The incarnation I had, '98-'01(?) is the only VFR that ever sounded awesome. In fact, the difference it and its predecessors and successors is so staggering it is almost hard to believe it came from the same company. All the other VFRs just sounded wimpy and generic. This incarnation was the only one that had the lumpy deep rumble like a Ducati but much more sophisticated and high performance sounding. At redline, it sounded like an Indy Car. It may not had the great looks of the incarnation that ended in '97, but audibly, it was one of the most intoxicating sounding bikes I have ever heard.

No comparison. :boxing2: She could never sing like the '98-'01. I don't know too many bikes that could. The '94-'97 was definitely the better looking sister, I'll give you that.
