yeah, i'm gonna get some sand paper and get the rust off the caliper guards. think i'll probably get the radiator guard sanded down and then get it powder coated. i really like the way they look, though, so don't want to get rid of them. will also probably be adding engine guards, again for the look of them.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a naked GL1200. That's the last of the 4cylinder Goldwing that they made from 1984 until 1987. They actually offered it as a naked model in addition to the dressed Interstate, Aspencade, and the SEi. I don't know how many were actually sold, as I have never seen one ever.

Considering that there doesn't appear to be anything that could even laughingly be called a "muffler" on it, my guess is that it sounds like the Hounds Of Hell on steroids.

But I do like the looks of it... I never would have thought of making a cafe racer out of an Old Wing, I think this guy's on to something here.

yeah, i'm pricing out some cheap aftermarket cans for it. not sure i really want all the heat from the engine pouring onto my lower legs and having all the heat from the exhaust coming out right under all the heat from the engine. we'll see, though. any exhaust i do put on it will get sanded down and painted flat black, so it seems a shame to buy all the chrome just to take it all off.

he sent me some pictures of one he just picked up and i know he still has two others in his garage so there's a steady supply coming out of Phoenix, averaging one every two or three weeks. if you're interested, Gummiente, i could maybe find the generosity in my heart to pick one up and get it to you for a small, modest fee. just a small token for my time..... :D

:) I appreciate the offer, but I have two bikes already plus the wife's bike and my garage is way too small as it is.

i'd happily trade you one of his GL's for your FLTR. just don't tell anyone what a great deal i'm giving you, i'd hate to have my secret out in the public. here's the pics he sent me of his most recent acquisition.
