I used to have a pair of gloves with metal rivets along the palms to prevent wearing through the leather in a crash. Nice idea, but one day I got the chance to test it. I had about 30 little burns in each palm after I got up. They were small, but 3rd degree and hurt like hell for way too long. I'll stay away from the steel armour from now on.......

90 degrees, I wish. Try 110 in the shade. 90 is a cold spell where I live.

Mesh all the way in summer. Leather and textile in Fall/Winter. Not the best protection but I'm not sitting in my own personal sauna either.

If I were to get chainmail it would have to be made from Magnesium. Imagine the Fourth of July display you would see if I went sliding down the road. Help me Oprah Winfrey!!

leathers no matter how hot it gets.......sweat I can shower off, and I just don't trust textiles or mesh....speaking of which, I stopped off at a Bike Show and Shine last weekend being held at the local ultralight airfield and took a look at some of the vendors tawdry wares, looking for a new pair of light weight summer gloves. Found a pair that looked interesting....but would you believe they were a spandex mesh????????? and they were trying to pass them off as riding gloves....WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Meh, this originally seemed like a spam topic but since people are chiming in I figured what the hey.

I've actually seen someone wear chainmail around their torso while riding a medieval looking chopper with a weird viking helmet.

For me mesh in the summer when temps reach above 80º F and my vent-able leather jacket all other times. Maybe I should go to the local police shop and buy some SWAT elbow, shoulder and forearm pads, wear my Icon Field Armor on top of a moisture wicking running top. That way I don't need to wear a jacket...

I've been down while wearing my mesh Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 jacket and it held up well to the point where I could use it again and I still do till this day. The padding in the arms and shoulders are great and the back area is decent. There are times when I feel I could use more protection while wearing mesh so I put on my Icon Field Armor vest.
