yeah the tank is clear coated steel:

I would have done the whole thing in raw metal but the tank is stamped in on the side to accomodate the bracket for the "HONDA" badge. (the flag is masked and painted... everyone always thinks it's a sticker :?)

actually I hadn't seen that site, I've seen most of those bikes though, I've been considering a Triton as my next endevour. Yeah the bike started as your average 30 year old cl360.

I love the way it sounds... can't say wheather you would or not though... (loud pipes save lives :)) I have been known to use a little throttle as a horn more than a few times. And once it drops down to idle it sounds just a bit faster than a harley lope. If I can ever figure out how to make up a sound clip I'd be happy to.

ha! no way am I ditching the seat... do you have any idea how much of a pain that was to make?

Thanks, in the next revision the clubmans might become clipons... the lower the better :)

someone asked about the handeling... I don't really have a good answer to that though. This is the second bike I've ever ridden (the first being the rebel I used for my MSF class) and I never rode it in it's original condition, so I have no basis for comparison. All I can say is that it seems plenty comfortable and easy to steer to me, some new rear sets would probably be better... but not really for any better reason that they would just seem more appropriate.

I shot the pipes with some cheapo duplicolor high temp low gloss black, you can see in the side shots that there are some thin spots where my pantleg rubbed it off during the first ride, the paint's actually a good product but you have to bake it on before it will set up and get hard. I made the mistake of riding it in order to bake it on... that's why it rubbed. (make sure you bake it in a well ventilated area, that stuff stunk to high hell, and I had a good 40+mph headwind) I'm not concerned with the damage though since as soon as I get around to re-engeneering that bracket I'll be wrapping them.

right now I'm working on my helmet to match the bike. I'll see if I can post a how to when I'm done with that one.

if I get the clipons and like them, I'll send you the clubmans

Check out MikesXS though, they're pretty cheap. I had to mill them out to fit the electronics through them, and there's the slightest bit of surface rust foming on one of the welds (that's why I think I'll be switching)

Yeah the flag was a bit of work, first I had to sand down the tank, mask the outline, etch prime, then white, mask and red, buff out the edges of the red and white, clear coat, buff edges, more clear, then an over all buff... and now I have to re do it all because the clear I used isn't sticking very well to the metal. I think next time I might do some more wheathering to it.

No I haven't seen it, I don't watch any TV... sometimes I do miss things like biker buildoff and such, but I still prefer not having one, just means I have to wait for it to come out on DVD
