Loaning him books at this point ain't gonna do much good. He just needs to just ride. The only way to overcome it is to do it... and do it again... and again.. and.. well.. you get the idea.
Tell him to take it to a huge parking lot and practice until he's comfortable, then move to low traffic streets with lower speed limits, then work his way up from there.

Thought I would post this from one of my students

Hi Paul,
just a quick note from Erika & Ginette (2 of your trainees yesterday) to again say thank you.
Both of us were quite disgusted to ride on scooters at first but as a teacher you knew best.
I overcame my fear of scooters and learned all the good stuff before I could practice them on my bike and Ginette learned (most of all) to corner properly.
Thanks again for a very nice day.
Erika

This is from guys who have dropped their bikes. Going back to basics always works.

Not to sound mean, rude, or cruel but John pretty much hit the nail right on the head. In the US, riding a motorcyle is pretty much a hobby. It is supposed to be enjoyable and something you really want to do. It's not supposed to be something you have to force it on yourself. It's a hobby. Either you like it or you don't. There are tons of other hobbies one can take up. Life is too short to be stuck with a hobby that one doesn't enjoy or question its merit.

That being said, I love motorcycling and knew it the moment I first rode a bike when I was a kid. :kicking:

Hi there pumpkin ti.ts ;)

A hobby, A HOBBY, you have to be joking ????

WTF, OMG a Hobby ???? You sure you mean Hobby ????

As for the original posters concern, "tell your mate (or if its you heheheh) Grow a set of hairy ones and get back on the horse and stop ya fookin crying"

Geeuz christ !!!! Wtf are you going to learn from a book .....a BOOK and a DVD????? are you serious ?

Im stunned what has happened to you guys, 1st one calls riding a hobby and the other has fallen off his bike on his driveway and is to scared to go riding again.

I knew this would happen if I disappeared for any length of time :baby:
