Keep hydrated....it helps with cognition. On long days with hot temperatures, I use a water bladder specific backpack.....you can easily get the drinking tube under the chin bar of your helmet. The pack is not heavy and with only water in it, is light weight. I don't even notice it there.
Good advice on the undies, Blues. That is something I wouldn't have thought of, but is definitely going to make a difference for me.

Hey Loonette. Good advice there.

I found that long trips can punish the body a bit, take some non sedative anti inflams with. Can really spoil your ride with an ache in the wrist or bum or back.

Try not to eat carbs when you ride, I find most people that do the long rides with me, get hungry, wolf down a burger and then get horribly tired 20 mins after. Proteins and low GI stuff work best. Stay hydrated even if it is cold.

Stop often and for short time. 15 mins max. Longer and you start to get that " I don't wanna ride no more feeling"

rather start early and get there early than late and arrive late.

As for the undies

EISH, bit of overshare there

You'll just have to use your imagination, I suppose...

One other thing I do, I split my money and cards up. I leave some on the bike usually in my locked top box, I have my wallet and I put some in my boots in a small wallet. A little paranoid maybe but I know guys who have lost their wallets and really struggled.

You can use your imagination where to put yours I am sure
