Lived in Seattle for like 20 years, never been one to let a little rain scare me!

That being said, not sure I would head out in the rain, but I don't mind if it looks like its going to rain, nor do I turn around even on trivial trips for the rain. Again, that being said, it may be different if I was able to park in the garage. There is just something so much more painful about removing and applying a cover in the rain .

Also much prefer riding freeway speeds in the rain, I suspect that is universal. I am sure there is some sort of physics explanation, but it sure feels like I don't get all that wet. And I just wear blue jeans and a lightweight jacket lately (over a layer of good long underwear )

Sounds dangerous. Lightning strikes are only rare because people go inside or drive cars. Before air conditioning, people were outdoors much more often and lightning strikes more common. People were scared if it started raining and they weren't close to a building.

left yesterday sunny all day as soon as i was heading back home got black as ever out, had no choice, so just slow down and roll on!

I live and ride in Vancouver, enough said.

Like Whiplash use to do, I have to ride to work. No car or car license. Rain or shine I ride. All year. In really extreme snow and ice I do rest the bike and take public transport but that takes me 3 hours to get to work so if I can I ride.
Monsoon season is the worst, some days you just cant face arriving at work soaked to the skin despite rain gear but it means you leave early..use your change of clothes you left in your locker at work for the purpose.

I've "enjoyed" riding in the UK now for 3 years, thankfully I haven't got caught out too many times due to the rain. I actually think it rains less in England than it does in Vancouver! But that said, I do like riding in the rain and thus carry rain gear.

Last July in Calgary I was riding a Fat Bob and got caught in a flash flood type rain, 15 mins of heavy, heavy rain on the highway (traffic went from 120km/h to 20km/h) with very little visability. Thankfully, I my rain suit is Hi-Vis.

There were a few times when riding courier bike in Vancouver when I got caught in some sudden BC Monsoons....had to pull over and let them pass....couldn't see where I was going.....did think a few time about using the opportunity to have a quick shower, though I doubted many people would of been impressed at the sight of a big ugly MC courier showering by the side of the road.

Had a lightening strike hit about 150 yards from where wife and I were riding when touring Nova Scotia, summer of 2008. That was quite close enough, very visible impact, scared the krap out of me. I won't ride if I know there's active thunder cells around.

Trouble with the Nova Scotia incident, there was no thunder. It had been raining lightly for several hours, dull gray skys, no thunderheads or anything dramatic, then WHAP!! this bolt struck out of nowhere.

I have before. I wont if its POURING DOWN, but if its drizzling or light showers... Why not.
